Blue Bar Palace

We’re ready for summer! And we’re opening the doors to one of the most strikingly original terraces in the country. It’s cocktail hour at the dreamy “Blue Bar Palace”, a new concept with the signature of interior designer Rosa Urbano.

It’s the new “summer terrace” of the emblematic Westin Palace Hotel, inaugurated this month of June as part of Madrid’s interior design festival DecorAcción 2018“.

The Blue Bar Palace is located inside the building and is therefore an “imaginary terrace” with views of the rooftops and most emblematic monuments of Madrid. A space to relax, disconnect and dream of a paradise of sea and sky. Surprised? We’ll tell you how Rosa Urbano achieved this stunning effect!

5 décor trends in the new “Blue Bar Palace” terrace Blue Bar Palace

 1.The colour blue, the protagonist

Rosa Urbano chose the colour blue to transport the visitor to a tranquil paradise of sea and sky, becoming one of the key elements of the project which the designer applied to the walls, furnishings and lighting.

Together with some white furniture, accessories and floors, the combination creates a refreshing atmosphere of ease and calm.

2.Unique lighting

The lighting is an essential part of this interior terrace. The designer suspended hoops with blue LED lights from the ceiling, created exclusively for this project in collaboration with Lámparas Oliva. The effect is enhanced by the photoluminescent mosaic tiles from Hisbalit’s Starlight Mosaic collection. These striking tiles glow in the dark to achieve unique visual effects!

The personalisation of the space, especially the floor, is also one of the most important features of the project. Rosa Urbano turned to Hisbalit’s Art Factory to create a unique mosaic tile floor in light blue that also highlights the blue LED hoops suspended from the ceiling. An original design that creates a very special shadowed effect!

The floor design combines mosaic tiles from Hisbalit’s interior design and pool tile collections, evoking the presence of water with a sophisticated and elegant touch. Urbano decided on the Aral model from the Niebla Collection for the floor with Unicolor 127 tiles for the customised design with a light blue border in Auriga mosaic tiles. The photoluminescent flooring which glows in the dark provides a striking visual effect to the space!

4.Vintage minimalism Made In Spain

For the furnishings, the designer chose a minimalist style with a vintage touch. Rocking chairs (by Gaba) for a tropical feel, unique umbrellas (Ensombra) that mimic palm trees, functional stools (Aram) and tables with built-in lights (Cestita by Santa&Cole) are combined to set a special tone for the terrace. All of these furnishing, with a blue and white motif, are by “Made In Spain” brands.

5. Art on the wall

This very special terrace is also a unique art space. If you like photography, you can enjoy your cocktail while viewing artist Javier Aramburu’s work “You love Madrid” displayed on the walls.

This collection, part of the PHotoESPAÑA exhibition, offers the artist’s personal view of some of the most unique corners of the city. A fusion of art, design and décor, the Blue Bar Palace terrace is a special and different experience!

Want to experience the Blue Bar Palace first hand? The terrace is open until September 8 from every day from 11:30 to 13:00h and 20:00 to midnight. The perfect place to disconnect, enjoy a drink and discover the latest trends in décor this summer.
