Marina and Pedro’s Family Home

A joyful, creative home designed for family living. This is the new home of a couple with two young children, who wanted a functional space full of personality and character. Designed by Emmme Interiorismo, this 250 m² duplex in Madrid’s Paseo de la Habana reflects the family’s essence: colour, energy, individuality and plenty of design.
From the very beginning, Marina, a fashion designer, had a clear vision for her home. She wanted a striking Klein blue glass partition between the kitchen and the living room, a yellow wardrobe in her studio and a patterned floor in the kitchen. The family also needed a home that could adapt to both their personal and professional lives, with two home offices, a playroom and a spacious kitchen with a dining area.
The ground floor was conceived as the main living area, bringing together the entrance hall and staircase, the living room, a double-height dining space, a children’s play area and Marina’s studio.
Every space gradually came to life thanks to the work of Emmme Interiorismo, creating a home where each room has its own distinctive identity.
The focal point of the living room is a bespoke unit designed to accommodate the large television, which appears to float between two exposed concrete columns. Marina’s studio is organised around a central high worktable, where she develops her patterns, fashion designs and textiles.
The first floor houses Pedro’s office, a reading corner for the children and the bedrooms with their bathrooms. The children’s bedrooms are perfectly symmetrical, featuring sloping ceilings and roof windows as their only source of natural light. The studio designed all the bespoke yellow furniture, creating cheerful, functional spaces tailored to everyday family life.
Creativity takes centre stage in the children’s bathroom, where the patterned floor and yellow accessories create a playful atmosphere. Artificial skylights recreate the effect of natural daylight, bringing brightness to a room without windows.
Every detail has been carefully considered, including a built-in bathtub that continues the custom floor pattern, creating a dynamic composition full of rhythm and colour. This bespoke design was created using Hisbalit hexagonal mosaic in five colours: red, green, yellow, white and grey.
The same material was used to clad the bathtub walls, this time in white and in a square format, creating a subtle contrast with the vibrant floor.
Flooring plays a leading role throughout the home. The entrance hall, kitchen and children’s bathroom all feature bespoke mosaic floors created through Hisbalit’s Art Factory custom design service.
Three exclusive handcrafted floors, produced tile by tile in our factory, act like bespoke rugs, framing each space and giving it its own identity while creating a sense of continuity throughout the home.
Natural herringbone wood flooring runs through the remaining rooms, bringing warmth and balance to the overall design. The result is a contemporary yet welcoming home where every space tells its own story while sharing the same harmonious language. A home full of character, where bespoke mosaic adds that extra touch of craftsmanship, creativity and warmth that makes every project truly unique.
